dena RES project Poland

The European energy markets are converging increasingly. The basic principles of marketing models tried and tested in Germany, such as e.g. the market premium and direct marketing of renewable energies, are taken over by neighbouring countries, like France and Poland. The focus is on the optimisation and flexibilisation of existing plants. And the Polish energy act, which took effect on 1st July 2016 and introduced mandatory direct marketing, provides an excellent market opportunity.

Against the background of this dynamic development and with the support of the German Energy Agency (dena), Energy2market GmbH (e2m) relies on concrete measures in order to make its market-tested virtual power plant (VPP) which is subject to continuous further development usable also for local Polish marketing structures. In the framework of the dena RES project Poland, e2m started its activities with its national branch set up specifically for this purpose in Poznań in the autumn of 2015.

This pursues the aim of establishing and permanently operating a VPP with the existing e2m infrastructures on the Polish energy market. The project corresponds to the objective pursued by the dena RES programme of establishing German technologies at important sites in third countries in order to exploit market opportunities there. And this is where the strengths of e2m – bundling of plants into different pools with an installed capacity of, in total, a little more than 3,200 Megawatts, the 24/7 operation of the VPP and supporting grid stability through the skilful use of local flexibility – come in.

Another aim is to build a sustainable marketing and utilisation structure on the Polish market. In addition to the operation of the VPP, this also includes advice and support with regard to ensuring remote controllability of the Polish energy generation and consumption plants and the connection to the aggregation power plant. e2m already provides the complete infrastructure for the safe operation of VPPs and has certifications throughout Europe.

dena Renewable Energy Solutions Programme (dena RES Programme)

The dena RES Programme was developed by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) – the German Energy Agency. This programme, co-financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy within the German Energy Solutions Initiative, supports renewable energy companies entering new markets. Within the framework of the programme reference and demonstration projects are installed nearby designated institutions in different countries around the world. The installation is accompanied by comprehensive marketing and training programmes. These projects impressively present high-quality renewable energy technology.
