Safe energy trading and VPP operation

Safe energy trading and VPP operation

The VPP operation is based on the precondition of very demanding quality, risk and safety standards. This includes high-availability, fail-safe and largely automated 24/7 energy trading as well as uninterruptible VPP operation. These are essential success factors for ensuring that maximum security and high product quality are reliably provided in a dynamic European market.

The right design of the IT infrastructure, in particular, is important for ensuring safe market accesses to the trading platforms, exchanges and transmission system operators:

  • If possible, geo-redundant IT infrastructure (physically separate and autonomous computer centers)
  • High-security computer centres with a redundant energy supply and several redundant data connections
  • IT infrastructure with an availability of almost 100 % and, if possible, a virtualised server farm or farms
  • Site with a redundantly designed power and data supply
  • Dedicated, redundant emergency standby hardware with mobile and/or LAN connections for temporary and/or spatial coverage of serious interruptions or emergencies
  • Specific action plans for interruptions and emergencies for corporate organisation
  • Regular internal and external audits and drills for confirming and constantly improving the safety concept
